activities on lac bay

In addition to the activities listed below, the pristine waters of Lac Bay offer swimming, snorkelling and paddleboarding.  Lac Bay, part of the Bonaire National Marine Park, is managed by STINAPA and plays such an important role in the ecology of the local marine life that it is registered by RAMSAR as "wetlands of special significance".  It is home to the green turtle, the queen conch and the mangrove tree all of which are globally recognised as endangered species.

Bonaire is the home of freestyle windsurfing and many of the top professionals can be seen training here.  Stretching some three miles long by one and a half miles wide, Lac Bay's warm, waist deep water is the most amazing, shimmering turquoise and the wind is cross on shore.  It is a fantastic spot for families with its shallow waters and with no currents or obstacles to worry about.  It is also a great location for those wishing to perfect their gybes, to practice freestyle or to simply enjoy out and out blasting.  The two Windsurfing Centres located on the fine white sands of Sorobon Beach offer lessons and equipment rental, paddleboard, kayak and snorkelling equipment hire:

East Coast Diving operates from the Fisherman's Pier, at the end of Sorobon beach.  This location provides the opportunity to see spotted eagle rays, sharks, green moray eels and lots of turtles as well as all the exciting creatures that you would normally see at the other dive sites around the Island.

The rib carries upto 10 passengers and operates daily excursions: a two-tank dive in the morning and upon request a one tank dive in the afternoon.

lac cai

A secluded corner hidden amongst the Mangroves on the opposite side of the Bay to the villa and Sorobon Beach. You can swim, snorkel, paddleboard or just relax and enjoy the serenity of the Bay.  If you paddleboard or kayak in that corner of the Bay you'll see plenty of turtles bobbing around simply enjoying the crystal clear water.

On Sundays Lac Cai is a bit more lively as it is a popular spot with locals for BBQs and family time, and regularly has live music.
